Hi, my name is Calvin Klaasen, and I'm a Fide Master. I am South African, 34 years old and I am a professional chess player/coach with many years of experience. I am also a twitch streamer and do instructive chess shows on www.twitch.tv/calvinklaasenchess. I love chess, studying chess, playing online and helping other players improve. Chess is an art, science and sport!

I became my country's (South Africa) national Champion in 2017 and have represented my country at multiple World Chess Olympiads. My Fide rating peaked at 2320. I also represented my country as a national coach at the World Youth Chess Championships. My life is a chess journey and I have traveled to many countries to play this beautiful game.

I am very good at assessing my student's strengths and weaknesses and adjusting the training methods accordingly.

I prepare my lessons specifically for individual student needs and utilise the zoom application to conduct these lessons. I give my students homework to do and after receiving it at the next session, I then give recommendations for improvement. My mission is to keep track of my student's progress and motivation is very important! At the end of the day, my students must be able to work and improve by themselves, but with a caring and focused touch, I will guide and help the process.
