About me

Hi everyone!

As you might already know I'm a Grandmaster from Moldova.

A huge fan of football and sports in general, I believe that competing is one of the biggest pleasures in life, and unlike other sports with chess we are quite lucky to have the opportunity to fight (against someone else or even ourselves when it comes to improving) until a very old age.

Passionate traveller and book lover.

Playing experience

I've been playing chess for more than two decades and I'm still learning a lot, just like everyone else. Probably now it's time to share my knowledge and experience a little bit :)

- Participated in a few Olympiads and European Championships for the national team
- Overscored all my GM norms
- Faced quite a few chess legends over the board (Grischuk, Anand, Rapport, Radjabov etc.)

Teaching experience

I was coaching for a few years in the Mesozoic era (before lichess was even launched), then I switched completely to playing mode. So now I'm back on track :)

I would love to have passionate chess students. When it comes to chess I feel that passion is more important than skill.

Other experiences

I used to stream on Twitch with the one and only Michael Grove (www.twitch.tv/chessbs) and I am planning to stage a comeback very soon.

Best skills

My playing style is pretty universal, just like my opening repertoire. So we will always manage to find some common ground in lessons, regardless of what style of play you prefer.

But if you prefer sharp stuff, then we might even become best friends haha

Teaching methodology

My methodology is simple: to define your strong and weak points in chess, and make your strengths shine and fix (or hide) your weaknesses - just like makeup artists do ;)

But more seriously, every individual is unique and deserves a unique approach when it comes to teaching, so let's try to figure it out.
