Teaching methodology

I wish to inspire my students with the same love and passion that I have had for chess since a young age.

I believe that chess mastery consists of two components: 1) Having a good understanding of chess (in other words knowing where to put your pieces and what to do in certain positions and structures) and 2) Being able to calculate variations quickly and accurately. After examining a student’s games and understanding their strengths and weaknesses I select specific material tailored to their needs so that they can make progress consistently. I believe strongly in targeted training to address and improve problem areas.

Unfortunately there is no “magic recipe” to success in chess… the key is consistent, clever and targeted work!
