Are grandmaster chess courses really worth it?

I am a sophomore in high school, and a friend of mine (a senior) went from 1100 to 1700 during the quarantine of 2020. I asked him how he did it and he told me that playing the game every day online. I was surprised by his dedication during that time, and I've been playing chess while trying to get better by watching YouTube videos of chess improvement. I've been playing for a long time (this is a new account) in a different account, and my Elo is closer to the 1300s and 1400s. I've been trying to improve and have considered paying for online grandmaster courses to get better at chess. The thing is, I don't know if paying such a big amount will be worth of all the quality of knowledge I will receive from the classes.

So, are the grandmaster chess courses worth it?
Chess courses are scams, get a coach if you really want the help
honestly just playing a lot of games helps

aside from a few books i have never had a coach, but i have gotten my rating in just 3.5 years of playing
@sebatorres_08 trust me you don’t need to pay anyone. Just play a lot. Study the openings you use, study end games, and study traps that work in your openings. I’ve gotten into the 2200s without even studying and all I’ve done is just play alot lol. However if you have the extra money and you take this game serious hiring a coach wouldn’t be a bad idea.

For your current rating, costly resources might not be necessary. Free YouTube videos are just fine. Just play a lot and remember to analyze your games. Doing just that will take you pretty far in chess.

As an analogy, think about a high school student who wants to buy a pricey book on Advanced Calculus for an undergraduate program. Is it worth it for them? Well, actually the book is pretty good, but if the student does not have the necessary prerequisite knowledge, then it is not going to be much use to them.
To be honest, you cannot know if it's a scam if you don't know how it has helped or not helped others. Some chess courses are fantastic, others are indeed a scam. Even grandmasters sometimes try to scam people, but other grandmasters really want to help people. You need to know if others improved with it.
To know if you have that potential or not y don't u increase your ratings to 2000 online...once u do it, I believe pro coach will strengthen you further....it's like you mastered karate before you get mma coach
