Alireza wins a 13th Titled Arena.

Can someone explain how a late start isn't a huge disadvantage? Or link to the blog post where this was discussed previously? I can't see the upside.
Congrats Alireza! You crushed this. Superb job!
Special thanks to Lichess's administrators for making the study on interesting positions during the Titled Arena :)
We'd love to see more of those in the future!
@supermitch by starting late he will be paired with other players with a low score (until he catches up with the stronger players), this makes it easier to win the majority of games (quickly), berserk more games and have a long winning streak (which gives bonus points).
#48 True that, it also spares energy so you don't have to play to your fullest (if you're Magnus, that is ; )...)
There might be some sweet point where starting late can provide an objective advantage due to what #48 explained, but generally speaking it must still be a disadvantage - specially if we're referring to starting 42 minutes late on a 2 hour event.
