I'm trying for 1800 in rapid by the end of 2024, but it might be fun to try and get there by the end of October. I think I probably can as well if I just play rapid more consistently, as I have improved significantly since setting the goal a couple months ago at 1625 or so rating.
I have a similar situation, but in more short-term. Right now i'm having a serious challenge for myself: there is a tournament my university provides, which consists of 2 qualifying stages in blitz (3+0 and 3+2). Competitors are really strong and even some FIDE masters are playing in this field. If i make it to top 100 players in the end, i'm going to have a chance to go to the capital of our country. So, now i have only less than a week to prepare and refresh my knowledge (i haven't been playing serious chess tournaments in about 4 years), while still studying. I would love to join you in this challenge and share progress and maybe gets some tips from you and other people.

I've been trying for 1800 in atleast one of Blitz, Bullet, Rapid or classical before the end of the year. To do this I have been aimlessly playing a huge amount of games at a time. This recently led to a huge tilt of -100 points two days ago. Maybe I should try your approach and see if I can do it before October end.
My goal is to get to 1900 classical by the end of this year.
I took a big break from chess so now my true powers are back online. My goal will be 2100 on blitz.
By the end of of February 2024 I want to be 2200 rapid and 2050 bullet.I do think that having a rating goal is good because it helps and motivates you to get better at chess.
