Pawn grabbing with check not ok ?

I could eat a nice pawn with check, but Stockfish criticizes it. Why ? Why would d5d4 be better ? Please explain.

the pawn can't be defended because of Be7 (that's probably the answer you want) while you open the long diagonal for your bishop and restrict white's pieces.
9..d4 Nf3 Bxf3 gxf3 Be7, or 9..d4 Kf2 Be7 and g3 isn't possible because the pawn is pinned

As Lightss says you open your diagonal and get space. The pawn is undefendable anyways.

If you take the pawn right away white gets some kind of compensation after g3 and Bg2.

If you are patient and first play d4 white wont get that kind of compensation.

Also good game I liked your 2...a6 just as GM Niclas from Chess24. You did well crushing an anti sicilian, defending your Sicilian Nation.

Thing is Black doesn't really get anything from capturing the pawn. As a matter of fact it opens up the king side; dangerous considering that the queen side is already open.

Not really dangerous, it is because white gets some compensation with g3 and Bg2 as mentioned below.

Also the only one that benefits from the opening of the position is black which is somewhat better developed.

I like grabbing pawns even if it is dangerous. I like being a pawn up even if im getting mated LOL.

Basically I follow patzer Jan G's advice. Pawn up is good. Be greedy.

I was blindfolded and didnt remember the knight on h7 lol. But hey, I was a pawn up
