Is 1-Min Chess Even Really Chess Or Rather Something Else Entirely?

Is Twenty20 "real" cricket? Is 5-a-side "real" football? Is 7s "real" rugby? What does "real" even mean? From a definition perspective, bullet is "real" chess, because it follows all the rules of standard chess. But that might just be my POV....
It is a form of chess that emphasizes instinct, intuition, fast pattern recognition and motoric skills.

It's great fun, ruined by the invention of premove though.
Well , some people are too "extreme"...
Ultrabulleters have published "studies" of FAST MOUSE USING. They also "advise" that Qh7+ is a perfect move when the Queen is NOT supported , because Black will need more than a second to capture the poor Queen...
This is chess of course...or isn't it??

Fast mouse using is an essential skill in bullet. Also irrational checks like the one you described to flag the opponent are standard bullet tricks, good bullet players know to expect them.

These are extra skills not needed in regular chess but they are skills none the less.

Even in OTB blitz (5 min + 5 min) such tricks exist, an "advanced" trick in time trouble is to develop the position to be played on the side closer to the clock so you can hit the clock faster (an IM told me this).

I think it's great that players expand the skills to include mechanical things such as bullet tricks and these OTB blitz tricks. It's taking it to a next level, thinking outside the box.
